If you’ve dipped your toes in the anime and manga community, there is a 99 percent chance that you’ve heard about Attack on Titan. It’s one of the best pieces of media that Japan has offered us, and insanely popular, too.

Based on Hajime Isayama’s manga, the anime completely took over the world with its first season in 2013, introducing viewers to a society ruled by fear and hunted by man-eating titans. Fortunately, there are plenty of characters willing to put their lives on the line to defeat them. Bloody, intense, and with extremely high stakes, this series is battle shonen at its finest, but like all great things, it had to come to an end.

The Attack on Titan anime concluded in November of 2023 with a super controversial finale. While fans were sad to see it go, this means that folks can now watch the entire series without having to wait between seasons. Whether you’re a newbie looking to dive into this world of titans for the first time or a longtime fan who wishes to rewatch it, we’ve got you covered.

The best Attack on Titan watch order

Attack on Titan has a whole lot of content. Besides the main anime, which is comprised of four seasons, there are multiple Original Video Animations (OVAs), including the spin-off mini-series, Attack on Titan: Junior High. This type of content mainly acts as side stories, and while entertaining, they’re not all considered canon by fans.

Since Junior High consists of imagined scenarios of the characters in school, it’s completely irrelevant to the rest of the story, so you can skip it. The statuses of the other OVAs, however, have been a topic of debate for years, particularly because some give us relevant backstories and context to the world of Attack on Titan. For these reasons, OVAs like “Ilse’s Notebook” and “A Choice With No Regrets” are well-loved by fans and a must for anyone looking to explore this world further.

To watch this anime in its entirety, with OVAs and the spin-off included, you can use the following list as a guide:

 • Season 1 (episodes 1-25)
 • “Ilse’s Notebook: Notes from a Scout Regiment Member” OVA
 • “The Sudden Visitor: The Torturous Curse of Youth” OVA
 • “Distress” OVA
 • “A Choice With No Regrets” OVAs, parts 1 and 2
 • Season 2 (episodes 26-37)
 • “Lost Girls: Wall Sina, Goodbye” OVAs, parts 1 and 2
 • Season 3, part 1 (episodes 40-49)
 • “Lost Girls: Lost in the Cruel World” OVA
 • Attack on Titan: Junior High
 • Season 3, part 2 (episodes 50 – 59)
 • Season 4, part 1 (episodes 60-75)
 • Season 4, part 2 (episodes 76-87)
 • Season 4, The Final Chapters: Part 1
 • Season 4, The Final Chapters: Part 2

Here’s how you can watch Attack on Titan online

Attack on Titan is currently available for streaming on platforms like Crunchyroll or Hulu. However, if you run into any location-based restrictions trying to stream through either of these platforms, you might want to consider using a VPN (or Virtual Private Network).

VPNs allow you to alter your viewing location to another country and access more shows & movies across your preferred streaming platforms. The easiest way to get a VPN is by signing up for a paid VPN service, such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN. Even better, both options offer a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Here’s how to watch ‘Haikyuu!!’ in order https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/heres-how-to-watch-haikyuu-in-order/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/heres-how-to-watch-haikyuu-in-order/#respond Tue, 13 Aug 2024 12:04:53 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1137170 There are two main ways you can dive into this anime, and they both promise you a great time.]]>

Whether they’re athletes or couch potatoes, everyone loves a good sports anime. There’s just something about this genre’s high energy that grabs your attention from the get-go, and Haikyuu!! is one of the best examples.

Based on Haruichi Furudate’s manga, this series is now the most popular volleyball anime of all time, and for good reason. Its plot is intense but fun, and the characters are all compelling in one way or another, especially Shoyo Hinata, the incredibly driven and hard-working protagonist. It’s not every day that you find such a high-quality anime, so it’s only natural for folks to want to get into it.

If you’re completely new to Haikyuu!!, you’ll need some help figuring out the best way to watch it, but worry not — that’s what I’m here for.

Haikyuu!! watch order

Those who want to dive into the world of Haikyuu!! have two different options for doing so, by going through all the animated episodes or watching the movies. Needless to say, the anime route is deemed the ideal one among hardcore fans of the series, so that’s how you should go about it if you want to get the best experience. To watch Haikyuu!! and its OVAs in order, you can use the following list:

 • Season 1, episodes 1-25
 • OVA 1 — “The Arrival of Lev,” also known as “Lev Appears!”
 • Season 2, episodes 1-11
 • OVA 2 — “VS Failing Grades,” also known as “VS Failing Marks”
 • Season 2, episodes 12-25
 • Season 3, episodes 1-10
 • OVA specials — “Land vs. Air” and “The Path of the Ball”
 • OVA 3 — “The Spring Tournament of Their Youth”
 • Season 4, episodes 1-25
 • Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle

It’s worth mentioning that despite how fun OVAs may be, they’re not required viewing. You won’t miss out on any key plot points or details by skipping the OVAs, as most of them act as simple side-stories, and are not based on the source material. That said, there are two exceptions — the “Land vs. Air” and “The Path of the Ball” specials, which adapt volume 22 of the manga, covering chapters 191 through 199. All this to say that if you want to skip all other OVAs, feel free to do so, but the specials are important.

If you don’t want to sit through multiple episodes of the anime, you can watch the story unfold via Haikyuu!!’s recap movies. Bear in mind that this isn’t the preferred option, as there will be some scenes missing and others added in, but the movies cover all the relevant events in the series. This makes them okay substitutes for the anime series, especially for fans looking to speed up the viewing process. You can watch all the Haikyuu!! movies in the following order:

 • Haikyuu!! The Movie: Ending and Beginning
 • Haiyuu!! The Movie: Winners and Losers
 • Haiyuu!! The Movie: Talent and Sense
 • Haiyuu!! The Movie: Battle of Concepts
 • Haikyuu!! The Dumpster Battle

All four seasons of Haikyuu!! are currently available to stream on Crunchyroll, along with some of the films.

Why is ‘Pokémon’ leaving Netflix? https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/why-is-pokemon-leaving-netflix/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/why-is-pokemon-leaving-netflix/#respond Tue, 13 Aug 2024 09:05:25 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1738298 The announcement has prompted fans to feverishly binge their favorite titles. ]]>

For decades, Pokémon has enjoyed a run as a juggernaut in the anime, gaming and even merchandise space, garnering millions of fans and spawning spinoff titles in the worlds of film, manga and television.

On the small screen, Pokémon has spawned eight anime series and 26 seasons, each based on a main installment of the Pokémon video game series. These shows have unsurprisingly been big hits, but their future has been called into question, at least in relation to Netflix.

The streaming giant obtained the licensing rights to broadcast Pokémon anime in 2014, and has since provided the English dub for the spinoff Pokémon: Journeys television franchise. While that title has made Netflix the first port of call for US Pokémon fans, the streamer recently announced that all of its Pokémon: Journeys series will be leaving the platform in early Sept, 2024.

It’s a move that has caught the ire of legions of fans, but what’s behind Netflix’s decision?

Why is Pokémon leaving Netflix?

In sad news for Pokémon fans, Netflix recently revealed that all four of the Pokémon: Journeys titles — including Pokémon Master Journeys, Pokémon Ultimate Journeys, and How To Be a Pokémon Master — will be leaving the streamer within the first week of September. Fortunately, the fan-favorite title, Pokémon Horizons, does not appear to be departing Netflix in the near future.

While no official reason has been given for Pokémon’s exit from Netflix, we know from similar departures that the move might boil down to licensing agreements. In the past, even the most wildly popular titles have been removed from Netflix after the licensing agreements it struck up with production companies have expired.

It’s worth noting that the ‘Leaving Soon’ notification for the Pokémon: Journeys titles seems to only appear for Netflix users in the United States, with fans in international regions like the United Kingdom and Australia seemingly able to watch those shows for the foreseeable future. What’s On Netflix reports that those international viewers should be able to watch the shows through the end of 2025, as per Netflix’s licensing deal.

Before you flock to Reddit to share your disappointment — as many fans already have — the fate of Pokémon: Journeys might not be doomed just yet. In the past, we’ve seen Netflix add the ‘Leaving Soon’ disclaimer to other Pokémon shows, only to remove it right before the expiration date after the title is renewed for another batch of episodes.

This happened in February 2024 with season 23 of Pokémon Journeys and season 24 of Pokémon: Master Journeys, so it might be the case that Netflix will pull a switcheroo again as the expiration dates near, if Journeys is renewed.

In any case, we suggest bingeing the shows anyway, because you’re never going to regret another go-around with Ash, Pikachu, and the rest of the gang.

‘Pokémon’ voice actor Rachael Lillis’ cause of death, confirmed https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/pokemon-voice-actor-rachael-lillis-cause-of-death-confirmed/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/pokemon-voice-actor-rachael-lillis-cause-of-death-confirmed/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 19:37:17 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1738103 'It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.']]>

An anime icon passed away in mid-August 2024, leaving hordes of Pokémon fans in mourning over the loss of an enduring favorite.

Rachael Lillis, known best for her longstanding contributions to the litany of Pokémon projects out there, died at the age of 46 on Aug. 10. Her loss robs the world of the voice actor behind a range of Pokémon favorites, most notably the characters of Misty and Jessie. These two staples of the series have been voiced by Lillis since the late ’90s, and without her contributions, they’ll never be quite the same again.

The stark differences between Misty and Jessie are enough, all by themselves, to underline the talent Lillis brought to every Pokémon project she was involved in. Misty is a longtime companion and ally to Ash Ketchum, the primary protagonist of the sprawling universe, and she travelled alongside him for a full five seasons before retiring to oversee her family gym. Even then she later returned, cementing Misty as among the most prominent trainers out there.

Then there’s Jessie, one of three leading antagonists across dozens of Pokémon releases. One third of the ever-present Team Rocket, Jessie may be an even more vital character than Misty, but the two couldn’t be more different. Their starkly opposing characterizations serve to emphasize just how talented Lillis was, and how much the Pokémon community will miss this staple of the voice acting community.

What was Rachael Lillis’ cause of death?

Lillis lost her life far too young, after months of battling a breast cancer diagnosis. News that Lillis had been diagnosed with breast cancer only reached the star’s fans earlier this summer — in May of 2024 — but the instant support that announcement inspired shows exactly how loved she was.

A GoFundMe seeking to raise funds for Lillis’ medical care was initiated by her sister in May, and by the time of Lillis’ death, it had raised $96,478 from more than 2,600 donors. People flooded from all walks of life to contribute anything they could, offering words of support and love in the comments, and frequently citing favored Lillis projects and thanking the voice actor for being such a “great part of everyone’s childhood.

On the same GoFundMe, Lillis’ older sister provided an announcement of her death, explaining that she “passed peacefully” and blessedly “without pain.” Any remaining funds in the GoFundMe will go toward remaining medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and — assuming there’s some left over — toward efforts to combat cancer.

Where to read ‘To Whom It No Longer Concerns’ manhwa, confirmed https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/manga/where-to-read-to-whom-it-no-longer-concerns-manhwa-confirmed/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/manga/where-to-read-to-whom-it-no-longer-concerns-manhwa-confirmed/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 14:10:25 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1737894 ]]>

There’s a deeply satisfying feeling of accomplishment when you finally find a manhwa that meets all of your criteria. To Whom It No Longer Concerns is giving romance, drama, tension, betrayal, and spice. To quote the Tiktok youths, it is giving… everything we want and more.

The manhwa isn’t very long yet — there are only a few chapters out so far — but it is already showing immense potential. Yo Jeongyeon’s writing is incredibly well-structured, introducing a story filled with family drama and hierarchical complexity. It is paired with Studio LICO’s art, from The Worst Villainess and Marry My Husband, making it quite a bulletproof collab. In fact, we’ve been seeing glimpses of the recent South Korean chapters on TikTok, but if you don’t know Hangul, here’s where you can read To Whom It No Longer Concerns in English.

Where can I read To Whom It No Longer Concerns?

To Whom It No Longer Concerns is available to read for free on the WEBTOON website and app. I know it sounds too good to be true, but WEBTOON is indeed one of the few manhwa and webtoon platforms that are completely free to use — and the best part is that it’s fully legal. There is only one downside, though: it’s a few chapters behind the original South Korean release.

Since the manhwa was only recently picked up by WEBTOON — originally serialized in Korea by NAVER — the original story is currently a few chapters ahead of the English translation. This means that if you browse X or TikTok often, you might stumble upon a few spoilers unintentionally. At this point, the story is about eight chapters ahead of the English translation, so keep that in mind if you decide to search for any To Whom It No Longer Concerns content online.

Will there be ‘Rising Impact’ season 3? https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/will-there-be-rising-impact-season-3/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/will-there-be-rising-impact-season-3/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 13:46:42 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1737949 Is Nanaumi Gawain's inspirational story over?]]>

Unsurprisingly, season 2 of Netflix’s Rising Impact hit another hole-in-one with viewers.

Evidently, this anime is more than just golf, and this season put it to the test with impressive character development and emotionally charged storytelling. Most of all, the latest season has certainly proven one thing: we’ve only scratched the surface of Gawain’s golfing potential. Which begs the question: will there be Rising Impact season 3?

Whether it was the heated rivalry or the emotional depth of the characters explored, there’s been something to enjoy in each episode of this sports anime. But the conclusion of season 2 left many questions unanswered, and plot strands are still dangling in the air.

Will Rising Impact return for a third season?

Rising Impact, the anime adaptation of Nakaba Suzuki’s critically acclaimed manga of the same name, premiered on Netflix on June 22. A second season premiered only a few months later, on Aug. 6, 2024. Given current trends, it is reasonable to expect the third season release date to be announced shortly. However, as of writing, neither Netflix nor the Lay-duce studio have provided us with any information about the third season of Rising Impact, let alone a confirmed release date. Nonetheless, it’s expected that Netflix is anticipated to adopt a different strategy this time in regards to determining the release date for the third season.

Given its success, Netflix may be waiting on audience viewership numbers as a significant catalyst to announce a third season. Season 1 had a strong viewership score, and while that of the second season is yet to be announced, we expect the final value will help to determine whether a new season will be greenlit. As such, even though season 3 of Rising Impact is announced, there will be some time before it’s materialized because of the time for animation.

We can take comfort in the idea that there are still many stories to adapt from the source material. Season 2 concluded with the Camelot Cup Arc, and there are approximately four volumes left for adaptation. If Rising Impact is renewed for season 3, it will most likely be the series’ final season, focusing more on revealing the truth about Gawain’s prodigy, and cementing his reputation in the series as one of the best.

The author, Nakaba Suzuki, is also no stranger to having his work adapted for streaming, as this marks his second adaptation following the famous hit, The Seven Deadly Sins. For now, we’re in the waiting game. But let’s keep talking about Rising Impact, sharing our love for the show, and hoping for the best. Until then, we can replay our favorite shots and dream about what season 3 could bring.

Jujutsu Kaisen has had fans in a chokehold since 2018, but all good things must come to an end. Jujutsu Kaisen is in its final arc: the Inhuman Makyo Shinjuku Showdown, and manga readers know that serious matters have gone down. For those not exactly caught up, here’s an explanation of the Shinjuku Showdown that’s taken quite a few fan-favorite lives.

The battle for survival

The Shinjuku Showdown arc kicked off with Chapter 222, has been broken down into 36 parts (and counting), and has been a wild ride. It’s packed with action, intense battles, and major sacrifices, as our favorite characters go head-to-head with the King of Curses, Sukuna. We know that for most of the series, Sukuna was chilling inside Yuji Itadori’s body, popping out every now and then to stir up trouble. But all that changed at the end of the Culling Games arc.

Remember that binding vow Sukuna made with Yuji way back in Chapter 11? Well, he finally cashes it in, takes over Yuji’s body one last time, and then does the unthinkable—he transfers himself to Megumi Fushiguro. This move frees Yuji from Sukuna’s curse, but it turns Megumi into the new vessel for the most powerful sorcerer and curse in history. Once Sukuna is unleashed in Megumi’s body, all the remaining Jujutsu Sorcerers band together to take him down.

The arc kicks off with the epic battle everyone’s been waiting for: Ryomen Sukuna versus Satoru Gojo. It’s a clash between the strongest sorcerer in history and the strongest sorcerer of today. Sadly, it ends in heartbreak with Gojo’s death, marking the first major loss in this final showdown. But Gojo doesn’t go down without a fight—he manages to deal some serious damage to Sukuna, setting the stage for what comes next.

Sorcerers unite

After Gojo’s death, you’d think that things would come to an end, right? Well, the arc doesn’t slow down at all. Wave after wave of sorcerers jump into the fray, each trying to stop Sukuna from bringing a new era of chaos. It’s a non-stop barrage of battles, with only brief moments to mourn the losses and reflect on the sacrifices being made. We get to see some new faces from the Culling Games, along with old characters who’ve been MIA since the Shibuya Incident. It’s like a reunion tour but with way more life-or-death stakes.

Unfortunately, Gojo isn’t the only one who falls. Characters like Kashimo, Higiruma, and Choso all meet their end trying to take down Sukuna. But in a surprising twist, some thought-to-be-gone characters, like Aoi Todo, make a comeback to help in the fight. Even Yuta Okkotsu, who’s often considered the strongest sorcerer after Gojo, makes a huge sacrifice by using Kenjaku’s technique to keep fighting Sukuna within Gojo’s body.

So who’s left standing during the Shinjuku Showdown?

As it stands, Yuji Itadori is the last one left standing. In a final attempt to end the chaos, Yuji unleashes his newly discovered Domain Expansion. And that’s where the Shinjuku Showdown arc is currently at. The action is reaching its peak, with manga artist Gege Akutami giving fans the battles and team-ups they’ve been dreaming of since the early days of the series. It’s been a wild, chaotic ride, but it feels like we’re finally nearing the end. All eyes are on Yuji now as he faces off against Sukuna in what’s sure to be an unforgettable finale. With the final chapters on the horizon, it’s only a matter of time before we see how it all ends.

Can we expect a third season soon?]]>

Rising Impact is a Netflix anime series based on Nakaba Suzuki’s Japanese manga series of the same name.

The plot follows Gawain Nanaumi, a third-grader who becomes obsessed with golf after meeting professional golfer Kiria Nishino. He soon begins his own journey in the competitive world of the popular club-and-ball sport and finds himself up against the world’s best talent, forming intense rivalries along the way.

All 12 episodes of the first season hit the popular streaming platform on June 22, 2024, and all 14 episodes of the second season followed a month and a half later, on Aug. 6.

Both seasons have been met with critical acclaim, with praise for the animation, characters, voice cast, story, and the show’s ability to make golf more accessible and get viewers interested in the sport. But is there a third season on the way any time soon?

When is season 3 of Rising Impact coming?

Rising Impact
Image via Netflix

As things stand, Rising Impact season 3 has not been confirmed, let alone given a confirmed release date. However, given how well-received the first two seasons were, fans should undoubtedly still be optimistic it will happen.

If it does happen, and if the release pattern matches that of season 2, it should arrive around mid-September (a month and a half after season 2, which is how long it took season 2 to arrive after season 1).

For now, however, fans of the show will have to wait patiently for updates and we’ll be sure to provide them once any information is made public.

Are avid fans of Low Tide in Twilight some of the strongest soldiers out there? Possibly, especially since there’s usually one delay or the other that pushes back release dates. Looking forward to the next chapter can be classified as an extreme sport, as the writers often declare sudden breaks every now and then.

Thankfully, this time, chapter 96 of the BL manhwa is almost here, arriving just one week after the last chapter which left us a bit worried.

Recapping chapter 95

All the tension came to a high in chapter 94 of the manwha, when Taeju was stabbed. Luckily enough, Euihyun stepped up to protect and care for him, even though the future remained uncertain. Chapter 95 of Low Tide in Twilight was also not for the weak, as it’s become pretty obvious that the two leads are definitely not in a good place. After the stabbing, Euihyun’s concerns showed a softer side to him, but while Taeju’s on the road to physical recovery, it’s up in the air if he will recover mentally.

When to expect chapter 96 of Low Tide in Twilight

Chapter 96 of Low Tide in Twilight will arrive on Friday, Aug. 9. However, as with each release, the time depends on your location. Here’s the breakdown of when chapter 96 will hit your region:

 • Korean Standard Time (KST) – Aug. 9, 12:00 AM
 • Pacific Time (PT) – Aug. 9, 8:00 AM
 • Central Time (CT) – Aug. 9, 10:00 AM
 • Eastern Standard Time (EST) – Aug. 9, 11:00 AM
 • Australian Standard Time (AUST) – Aug. 10, 12:00 AM
 • Japan Standard Time (JST) – Aug 10, 1:00 AM

As always, English translations of Low Tide in Twilight will be available on Lezhin Comics upon release, while Korean language originals are on Bomtoon. French and Thai translations are also available, and all iterations of the manhwa are only accessible through subscriptions, so you can enjoy the first chapter for free, and decide if it’s worth your money.

However, since Low Tide in Twilight boasts one of the largest fanbases for a BL, you’re probably going to enjoy reading!

What happened to Icarus in ‘Dragon Ball Z’? https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/what-happened-to-icarus-in-dragon-ball-z/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/what-happened-to-icarus-in-dragon-ball-z/#respond Tue, 06 Aug 2024 11:24:13 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1735483 Every now and then, the fandom remembers Gohan’s old friend. ]]>

Dragon Ball Z has gone down in history as one of the best anime series ever, serving as many people’s first introduction to anime and other Japanese media. Despite its iconic status, and like any other long-running show, Dragon Ball Z is full of plot holes that lead to numerous questions. One of these is the issue of the character Icarus, the Hire Dragon?

Who is Icarus, the forgotten Dragon Ball Z character?

Icarus is an anime-only character that was introduced in the Tree of Might movie. Like many anime adaptations, the Dragon Ball Z movies largely have original stories and feature characters that do not exist in the manga. Essentially, the bulk of them are not recognized as canon events.

When he was first introduced, Icarus was a young, light purple dragon with green eyes and tiny wings. We first meet Icarus when Gohan saves him from a falling tree in the Tree of Might movie. When the forest that Icarus lived in was burning, Gohan used the Dragon Balls to save it, and after this, Icarus and Gohan immediately bonded. When Goku saw how close his son was to the dragon, he made a home for Icarus in a cave so the two could play together as much as they wanted.

After the movie, Icarus was seen again in a few filler arcs and anime movies. He was by Gohan’s side in the Lord Slug and Cooler’s Revenge movies, and featured in the Garlic Jr. Saga as well as the Trunks Saga. His appearance in the Trunks Saga was in a fan-favorite filler episode which featured Goku and Piccolo learning how to drive. However, this was the last time we saw Icarus in the anime.

What happened to the beloved dragon Icarus?

Like many questions fans have had about Dragon Ball Z over the years, the question of Icarus’s whereabouts has largely gone unanswered. The last possible mention of the dragon was in the Great Saiyaman Saga when Goten mentioned that a dinosaur he was playing with reminded him of Icarus. This means that Icarus was alive and well long enough for Gohan to introduce him to his younger brother.

The most common assumption about Icarus is that he is living his own life elsewhere, and both he and Gohan remember each other fondly. Icarus’ final time on screen in the canon universe was in an illustration for Dragon Ball Super done by Toyatarou. It is the first time Icarus is featured in the manga, and the drawing includes Gohan patting a fully-grown Icarus on the head. In Toyotarou’s notes on the illustration, he said that he hoped the dragon was living well on Mount Paozu.

Is there a ‘Solo Leveling Ragnarok’ manhwa adaptation? https://wegotthiscovered.com/news/is-there-a-solo-leveling-ragnarok-manhwa-adaptation/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/news/is-there-a-solo-leveling-ragnarok-manhwa-adaptation/#respond Tue, 06 Aug 2024 10:35:37 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1735387 Jin-woo's legacy lives on.]]>

Following its epic anime season finale, it was confirmed that the second season of Solo Leveling will be released by the end of 2024. However, while waiting, dedicated fans have been craving additional content to fill the void, and Solo Leveling Arise was announced. However, 2024 continues to be the year of Sung Jin-woo, and the franchise continues to expand. Solo Leveling Ragnarok, the sequel to the Solo Leveling webtoon, has been accessible as a web novel for some time, but a manhwa adaptation has joined the family?

How is Solo Leveling Ragnarok different from the original?

Ragnarok, a word synonymous with the end of the world, is a fitting title for a story that promises to be just as epic as its predecessor’s. This time, Solo Leveling Ragnarok centers around Sung Suho, the son of the legendary Sung Jin-Woo and Cha Hae-In, two of the most powerful hunters. The story follows the young hunter as he navigates a world filled with even greater dangers than what his father faced. His world is once again plunged into serious chaos as the universe’s gods seek to fill the void the Absolute Being left behind. With an inherited power beyond imagination, Suho’s journey is set to be one of immense potential and equally daunting challenges.

Is the Solo Leveling Ragnarok manhwa finally out?

The good news for most is that Solo Leveling Ragnarok has indeed been adapted into a manhwa, and the wait for Suho’s story to unfold is finally over. Chapter 1 was published on Aug. 1, 2024, and the artwork in Ragnarok is just as impressive as its predecessor.

The not-so-good news, however, is that as of writing, Solo leveling hasn’t received an official translation yet. The official release has only been made available on Kakao Webtoon, a Korean website, and it consists of 13 chapters totaling over 2000 pages. But while the wait for the English translation of the Ragnarok manhwa is undoubtedly frustrating for many international fans, the Ragnarok web novel is also available for reading in English on Tapas. While it may not have the same visual impact as the manhwa, it offers a chance to experience the story in its original form. As time passes, fans can expect to be just as captivated by Suho’s journey as they were by his father’s.

‘My Hero Academia’ fans trash the manga’s ending, demonstrating how spectacularly they missed the point https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/manga/my-hero-academia-fans-trash-the-mangas-ending-demonstrating-how-spectacularly-they-missed-the-point/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/anime/manga/my-hero-academia-fans-trash-the-mangas-ending-demonstrating-how-spectacularly-they-missed-the-point/#respond Mon, 05 Aug 2024 16:52:05 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1734955 There are fair complaints to be made, but these aren't them.]]>

After a decade of publication, the My Hero Academia manga has reached its conclusion — and fans are having extremely heated reactions to it. This is normal when you’re passionate about a piece of media, but there is space to question how (un)fair some of the hate for the series is.

Despite its massive popularity around the globe, Kohei Horikoshi’s work has always been the target of heavy criticism from folks outside the fandom. Why do people who stand on the sidelines feel entitled to make their voices heard? Beats me. Then, of course, there are always those who actually read the manga and are able to enjoy the series for what it is while recognizing some of its issues. When chapter 430 was released, even the most loyal fans decided to take up arms.

My Hero Academia‘s ending wasn’t perfect, no, but instead of basing their hate on actual problems — such as Deku’s lack of emotional catharsis after the war, or the implications of having characters like Himiko Toga and Tomura Shigaraki punished with death for their crimes — some decided to make up issues instead.

On Reddit, a lot of fans complained about how “unrealistic” Deku’s life post-war is. According to them, retreating into ordinary life as a teacher after saving the world is bananas, as it would only be logical for the main character to be famous after such a feat. The question is: Who says he’s not? While the final chapter focuses on Deku’s reflection on heroism, there is clear evidence that he has gotten his flowers. Dai is starstruck when he meets the protagonist, and as we learn through him, most kids dreamed of becoming like Deku, Bakugo, and Shoto after the war. In one of the panels, we also see action figures of the Class A alumni, Deku included, proving that he has gotten recognition for his accomplishments.

One could argue that none of this is enough, but it’s worth remembering how Deku’s heroism had long-lasting effects on society at large. Inspired by him, civilians started doing their part to help others and have been taking the necessary steps to build a better society. This kind of impact is far more relevant to the story than fame and glory. Besides, narratively speaking, it makes sense for Deku to end up quirkless and go back to living a normal life. The point of this series is that heroism can be found in everyday gestures made by ordinary people. What better way to convey this message than by focusing on the small ways we can impact others?

It’s normal to be a little sad that Deku lost One for All and gave up on his dream, but seeing him be a superstar would add nothing to the story. In fact, it would be as superficial as the Hero Society we met at the beginning of the series. So if you think the manga is ruined because he isn’t famous or the current number-one hero in Japan, you’re missing the entire point.

Misinformation has done irreparable damage to fan perceptions of My Hero Academia‘s ending

One other big gripe that folks have with My Hero Academia‘s ending is the supposed way Deku is treated by his friends after graduation. I say “supposed” because it’s just one more made-up issue derived from poor translations and the rampant spread of misinformation.

When spoilers for the final chapter made their way online, a fan translation claimed that Deku lost contact with his friends, leading people to the conclusion that he was abandoned after losing his quirk. If true, this would send the terrible message that he was only loved while he was useful. Fortunately, that’s not at all what happened. Once they graduated and started adult life, it became difficult for the Class A students to meet up regularly due to scheduling conflicts, but there is nothing to suggest that Deku lost contact with them.

Instead of abandoning the protagonist, his friends spent years funding an extremely expensive suit that would allow him to join them as a Pro Hero, even without a quirk. Because at its core, My Hero Academia is about community, hope for the future, and an ordinary boy doing whatever he can to help others. Sadly, some people refuse to read what’s on the page. Well, or they simply chose to make the worst possible interpretations of the material.
