The modern world is evolving on a daily basis, and as our technologies and jobs progress, so too do our criminals.

Crime looks a lot different in 2024 than it did a few decades back, and that leaves some people at a loss when they’re faced up with a modern ne’er-do-well . Some people, but not TikTok user Cyd (@loveecydney), who found herself more than qualified to out a scammer when they made the attempt to pull one over on her.

Cyd took to TikTok to expose a woman she dubs “Scammy Sammy” after Sammy, a former friend of Cyd’s, stole the TikToker’s information and used it to pay for a trip overseas. Referring to the Los Angeles based content creator as a “career criminal,” Cyd provides all the receipts necessary to prove that Sammy used her credit cards to pay for a trip to Paris, including a week-long Airbnb that ran Cyd nearly $1,000, and she even had the gall to post the entire experience to social media.

Sammy honestly made it far too easy for Cyd to expose her, as she documented her stolen trip in real time on Instagram. As a result, Cyd provided a thorough dressing-down of her former friend, and she was joined by plenty of viewers in the comment section of her video, who promptly swooped into condemn Sammy’s actions and encourage Cyd to pursue legal action.

Thankfully, our credit card companies have protections for instances exactly like this. And, since Cyd was so on top of it, it seems she successfully managed to shut down her cards, dispute those fraudulent charges, and hopefully throw a wrench into Sammy’s stolen vaycay. She also outed a known scammer, protecting others in Sammy’s circle from being similarly taken advantage of.

However. tt doesn’t seem that she pursued legal action — at least not yet. Cyd hasn’t discussed the Sammy issue much since she posted her initial video, which could indicate that she’s in the midst of legal proceedings. If she decides to go that route, Sammy could face serious consequences. Credit card fraud can carry fines up to $10,000 and, in serious cases, jail time of up to ten years.

Sammy could be facing some major consequences, should Cyd choose to pursue the issue, but her reputation’s taken a hit regardless of legal action. Thanks to Cyd’s exposing video, she’s had no choice but to private several of her social media accounts, and disallow comments on her own TikTok videos. She clearly received an influx of questions about her scammy behavior, and chose to silence the objections rather than face up to her actions.

‘Even Sesame Street knew’: Yearly reminder that decades before he was president, ‘Sesame Street’ was onto ‘Donald Grump’ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/even-sesame-street-knew-yearly-reminder-that-decades-before-he-was-president-sesame-street-was-onto-donald-grump/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/tv/even-sesame-street-knew-yearly-reminder-that-decades-before-he-was-president-sesame-street-was-onto-donald-grump/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 21:06:37 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1738208 'Whose name equals trash, to you and to me?']]>

For more than a decade now, the vast majority of America — and much of the rest of the world — has been onto Donald Trump’s game.

He thrives on controversy, hateful attacks, and fabricated issues, and years of petulant pushback have proven that he’d rather break the board in half than play a fair game. As a result, most of us are entirely disillusioned when it comes to the former president, but it took us far too long to realize the threat he posed to the United States of America.

You know who wasn’t surprised to discover Trump’s true colors? Sesame Street. Apparently thriving in its Simpsons era, the children’s television show established — a good two decades before the presidency was a glimmer in his eye — that “Donald Grump” was the worst kind of human.

A clip from the treasured educational program has been recirculating as the Trump campaign trades blows with Kamala Harris, re-establishing that this man has been a crook, a liar, and a braggart for longer than some of us have been alive. Exposed for the world to see by TikToker @savvy_from_maine, the series dedicated an entire song to the one and only “Donald Grump,” the man with “the most trash of any grouch in the world.”

Every line from the glorious little segment is comedy gold, particularly now that Trump’s shady business dealings and outright criminal behavior have been exposed. He does, in fact, plaster his name “on every piece of trash in town,” offers up the “best rubbish and scuzz” via products like Trump Steaks, and as his orange-haired caricature petulantly notes, he boasts “more trash” than the rest of us combined.

The fact that this blatant, harsh criticism of Trump came from Sesame Street makes the video all the better, particularly considering how long ago the episode aired. Sesame Street has been poking fun at the overtly villainous and trash-hoarding “Grump” for decades now, and he’s far from the only high-profile figure the program has targeted. Trump himself has come under fire numerous times, but he joins hundreds of others in getting a dressing-down from the children’s show.

It’s kind of inevitable, given Sesame Street’s tenure; the show has been on the air since 1969 and in 2023, it celebrated its 54th season. Over the years, it has put out more than 4,500 episodes in total, educating youths on any range of vital early development topics and taking shots at the controlling, heartless jerks of the world in the process.

‘Pokémon’ voice actor Rachael Lillis’ cause of death, confirmed https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/pokemon-voice-actor-rachael-lillis-cause-of-death-confirmed/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/pokemon-voice-actor-rachael-lillis-cause-of-death-confirmed/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 19:37:17 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1738103 'It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.']]>

An anime icon passed away in mid-August 2024, leaving hordes of Pokémon fans in mourning over the loss of an enduring favorite.

Rachael Lillis, known best for her longstanding contributions to the litany of Pokémon projects out there, died at the age of 46 on Aug. 10. Her loss robs the world of the voice actor behind a range of Pokémon favorites, most notably the characters of Misty and Jessie. These two staples of the series have been voiced by Lillis since the late ’90s, and without her contributions, they’ll never be quite the same again.

The stark differences between Misty and Jessie are enough, all by themselves, to underline the talent Lillis brought to every Pokémon project she was involved in. Misty is a longtime companion and ally to Ash Ketchum, the primary protagonist of the sprawling universe, and she travelled alongside him for a full five seasons before retiring to oversee her family gym. Even then she later returned, cementing Misty as among the most prominent trainers out there.

Then there’s Jessie, one of three leading antagonists across dozens of Pokémon releases. One third of the ever-present Team Rocket, Jessie may be an even more vital character than Misty, but the two couldn’t be more different. Their starkly opposing characterizations serve to emphasize just how talented Lillis was, and how much the Pokémon community will miss this staple of the voice acting community.

What was Rachael Lillis’ cause of death?

Lillis lost her life far too young, after months of battling a breast cancer diagnosis. News that Lillis had been diagnosed with breast cancer only reached the star’s fans earlier this summer — in May of 2024 — but the instant support that announcement inspired shows exactly how loved she was.

A GoFundMe seeking to raise funds for Lillis’ medical care was initiated by her sister in May, and by the time of Lillis’ death, it had raised $96,478 from more than 2,600 donors. People flooded from all walks of life to contribute anything they could, offering words of support and love in the comments, and frequently citing favored Lillis projects and thanking the voice actor for being such a “great part of everyone’s childhood.

On the same GoFundMe, Lillis’ older sister provided an announcement of her death, explaining that she “passed peacefully” and blessedly “without pain.” Any remaining funds in the GoFundMe will go toward remaining medical expenses, funeral arrangements, and — assuming there’s some left over — toward efforts to combat cancer.

‘Trump fatigue is real’: The empty seats at this Donald Trump rally make it clear why the former Cheeto-in-chief is imploding bigly https://wegotthiscovered.com/politics/trump-fatigue-is-real-the-empty-seats-at-this-donald-trump-rally-make-it-clear-why-the-former-cheeto-in-chief-is-imploding-bigly/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/politics/trump-fatigue-is-real-the-empty-seats-at-this-donald-trump-rally-make-it-clear-why-the-former-cheeto-in-chief-is-imploding-bigly/#respond Mon, 12 Aug 2024 17:19:43 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1738006 "His ship is sinking."]]>

The campaign to secure Donald Trump another term as president is floundering — if you need proof, just take a look at footage of his recent rallies.

Back in 2016, Trump’s boastful claims about stacked rallies and impossible crowds were at least akin to true, but these days, that’s nothing more than another bald-faced lie. His once-impassioned supporter base is slowly dwindling, as even former die-hard supporters see the writing on the wall and ditch the convicted felon for more electable candidates.

That trend is clearly starting to get under Trump’s skin. The floundering 78-year-old made false claims over the weekend that images from Kamala Harris rallies have been AI-generated, but perhaps the truth is far simpler — his base has grown weary of his redundant antics. Maybe he could use some AI intervention of his own.

A clip of one such recent Trump appearance underlined the presidential candidate’s diminishing supporter base, showcasing the empty seats that have become the norm for the Trump/Vance campaign. Even as Trump continues to brag about his massive popularity, video and photographic evidence show the truth of the matter, and it spells trouble for Trump.

The high school bully tactic favored by the Trump camp gets less popular by the day, and — as X’s Republicans against Trump account aptly pointed out — “Trump fatigue” is becoming very, very “real.”

Even Trump seems to be getting tired of the same old schtick. Slouched shoulders, half-hearted claps, a determination not to look at the empty seats in the stadium — he has nothing of substance to offer, and his base is picking up on that. All he has are the same boastful, braggadocios tactics that got him elected the first time around, but when tested against a starkly popular candidate with real energy behind them like Harris, its feeble roots are exposed. As a result, the Trump campaign is truly spiraling, and it’s having a notably negative effect on the Orange man.

All those once-impassioned Trump supporters are starting to see the man behind the bluster — and it’s not a pretty sight. Instead of the capable, experienced, poised option presented by the left, the right is faced with an angry, attention-seeking old man who’s more focused on validation than policy. He flies around the country trumpeting lies in exchange for applause, and somehow still expects us to thank him for his service.

The job market is, to put it kindly, an absolute dumpster fire at the moment, leaving job seekers scrambling for anything with a paycheck.

This often leaves people accepting jobs that wouldn’t normally suit them, but in this economy, anything will do. A few professionals are even coming out the other side with some nice solid career potentials, even though people like TikToker @ededddeddy may not be entirely qualified for their new occupations.

The content creator recently joined far too many of our world’s youths in the desperate, anxiety-inducing race for a post-collegiate position. He found little luck in the first days and weeks of his search, and — as money grew tight — he was left with increasingly few options.

So @ededddeddy did what far too many job hunters are eventually forced to do, and lied. He fluffed up his resume with a few enticing embellishments, and in the process he secured a position. Just not the one he initially intended, landing @ededddeddy with a spot among the faulty teaching local “secondary and 6th form students.”

@ededddeddy

His new position as physical education teacher at least seems to be going well, based on @ededddeddy’s TikTok. The clip shows as he and several other adults accompany a group of youths in a bus, and there’s no missing the clear joy those kids are feeling. He may not have years of experience bulking up his performance, but it seems @ededddeddy was more qualified for his new job than he may have thought.

It may not be the most honest way to secure employment, but @ededddeddy is far from alone in his creative approach to securing a job. A study from 2023 found that a full 70% of job-seekers confessed to lying on their resumes, with an additional 37% admitting that they lie frequently when looking for a fresh gig.

It’s become common practice in this brutal modern job market, and it’s hard to blame workers for beefing up their qualifications if it means money in their pockets and food on their tables. Jobs seem to get pickier and more restrictive with each passing year, and if they’re going to rig the game, we may as well play by their rules.

That sentiment was widely shared by @ededddeddy’s viewers, none of whom took issue with the TikToker’s creative means of finding employment. In fact, the bulk of commenters seem to think situations like @ededddeddy’s make for the very best educators, heaping praise on the P.E. teacher via comments reinforcing that “you will be their favourite teacher and they will remember you the rest of their lives.”

Quite a few people also noted the palpable joy emanating from the second half of @ededddeddy’s video, adding that “they’ll literally never forget you,” and assuring the young teach that he’ll likely be “the only teacher they would trust if they had any serious issues or dilemmas.”

They’re not wrong, and it seems @ededddeddy is taking that to heart. His content has taken a turn for the scholarly in the time since he took his new position, and he seems to be wholeheartedly embracing his new position — as are his kids. His new students have taken a clear liking to their new P.E. teacher, exposing just how little that beefed-up resume affected him in the end.

More often than not, cats are like tiny, fuzzy, aloof little superheroes, accomplishing feats we mere humans could barely dream of.

From channeling Spider-Man to scrambling up an entire mountainside, our house cats make it clear time and again that they’re still very much in touch with their wild roots. Domesticated they may be, but cats like the one TikToker Terran Davidson (@terrandavidson) caught on camera are still plenty rugged.

It’s normal for cats to enjoy a nice high vantage from time to time, but that’s typically restricted to a high shelf, the top of the refrigerator (no matter how many times we tell them to stop), or maybe a tree. One courageous cat took the feline tendency toward elevation an extra step or three further, however, and hauled their way up an entire telephone pole.

That left Davidson to discover the ballsy little furball on his way to work, where the prim puss sat towering over the country roadway. Utterly unbothered and clearly satisfied with his new role as overseer, the cat barely budged as Davidson exited his car to get a closer look and debate with himself over whether the cat was even real. A few ear twitches and an unmatched level of superiority prove that the cat was, in fact, the real deal, and cement that we will never understand how our carefree kitties think.

The tendency among cats, both domesticated and wild, to seek the high ground is baked into their base instincts. Sleeping up nice and high gives them an aerial advantage over enemies or prey, and allows them a good position to attack, if need be.

And, as a nice little bonus, it also allows for a charming show whenever we stumble across a cat, aloft and aloof, situated in the perfect position to look down on us. People reinforced the very likely scenario that “cats think that their level of importance is directly correlated with their height,” making this cat the King of his Kitty Kourt.

A few people expressed distress over the cat’s unreachable position, but most viewers were well aware that, for the most part, if a cat wants to reach somewhere, they will. I can confirm this first-hand, following weeks of sussing out the very strange places (on top of the PS5, Apollo?) my own felines like to retreat.

Replying to @sarahdxo the cat is safe 😆

In this particular instance, however, it seems intervention was, in fact, needed. The cat may have enjoyed his towering vantage, but when it came time to return to our level, he was at a loss. As a result, he had to be retrieved from his pole by a few concerned humans, but chances are good he’ll be looking down on us again in no time.

A new debate is kicking off on the campaign trail as Donald Trump and his running mate, JD Vance, scramble for any criticism they can leverage against Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

The main avenue they’ve landed on is a two-fold criticism of Walz, as they work to combat the stark popularity the Minnesota Governor entered the race with. First, they’re attacking him for his response to the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020 — despite Trump’s initial praise of his handling of the situation — and now they’re tacking on criticism of Walz’s supposed dodging of responsibilities while he was enlisted in the military.

It’s an… interesting decision from the Trump camp, considering the former president’s own history with the military. Not to mention that of Vance, who’s gung-ho when it comes to attacking Walz, but instantly shies away from any true scrutiny of his own military service. Neither Walz nor Vance ever saw combat in their respective roles in the military, but what about the leading name on the Republican ticket?

Did Donald Trump ever serve in the U.S. military?

Donald Trump's Selective Service System Classification Record
Photo by Selective Service System/Getty Images

Donald Trump famously dodged responsibility when he was tapped to serve his country, which makes his camp’s newfound criticism of Walz all the more of a head-scratcher. Trump had to realize this narrative would be turned back on him, so why did he choose a topic that paints him in such a terrible light?

It’s true that Tim Walz never saw combat, but he did serve his country, and retired with honors as a master sergeant. Vance also served his country, sans combat, for four years as a combat correspondent. Both men deserve praise for their decision to serve, but Vance is increasingly throwing stones in his own glass house. It’s leading to more criticism of his own military record, and now an examination of Trump’s.

Which, again, is non-existent. The 78-year-old was drafted during the worst days of the Vietnam War, and he dodged that draft not once, not twice, not three or four times, but five full times, ensuring that he never saw a day of combat — or even military service — in his life.

The first four draft deferments were because Trump was enrolled in college, and the fifth and final came as a result of a “bone spur” diagnosis. This kept Trump far from the fighting and situated him right alongside dozens of similarly privileged American youths. The “elitism” that Trump so loves to rally against served him well in the ’60s when his father’s money and status were paving the way for him to avoid the draft.

It will be a beautiful American day when Lauren Boebert is finally ousted from her position in Congress. How she still has a job at all continues to boggle the mind, but perhaps it’s due to her adamant embrace of her role as a shameless Donald Trump toady.

She certainly delivers in that regard, even as she fails to deliver a single win for the state she represents, but even Boebert’s desperate fawning isn’t enough to win her fans among the broad American public. And, as Trump’s base is gradually exposed as far smaller, and more insular, than Cheater the Cheeto would ever admit, she’s finding less and less support for her harebrained takes.

Her latest social media mewling saw Boebert praise her candidate for yet another unnecessarily lengthy public appearance, and dually accuse democratic nominee Kamala Harris of “hiding behind her campaign apparatus” and refusing to “go off script.” Her proclamation that “the Presidency is not a job for someone who can’t even handle the media’s questions” didn’t land the way she intended, unfortunately for Beetlejuice Boebert, and instead of support, her grousing prompted largely criticism.

People rushed to correct the record, and inform Boebert that, in reality, Trump “spoke nonstop lies” from the “beginning to end” of his appearance.

Boebert’s own history quickly came back to bite as well, prompting people to inform the flailing Coloradan that “Trump handled the media just like you handled that dude at Beetlejuice.”

Boebert, and far too many of her MAGA kin, seem incapable of wrapping their brains around a very simple concept. Just because Trump is talking does not mean he’s making a lick of sense, and yet they praise the man for delivering 77 minutes of rambling nonsense that proves, hands down, how incapable he is of running a country. They see it as a victory, but they are quite clearly the only ones.

People were quick to note that the “let him speak” strategy is working out great for the Harris/Walz team.

Then there’s the fact that Harris is, in fact, taking unscripted questions from reporters. She’s met with the media several times in recent days, yet the Trump camp keeps up its insistence that she’s “hiding away” and “refusing” to engage in interviews or press appearances.

Boebert’s tweet is yet another example of how hilariously misinformed the far-right is when it comes to the temperature of the American public. Sure, Trump is taking every opportunity to speak, but he’s sinking his chances at the White House with each fresh appearance. Harris, meanwhile, is speaking to the media in measured, carefully-curated instances that reflect the measured, capable leader she will be if elected. Both speaking styles reflect exactly what we can expect from these people if they win in November.

Now its just up to American voters to decide if we want the lying, cheating egomaniac who’s foaming at the mouth, or the considerate, cheery, and evidently intelligent former prosecutor to lead our country.

The Paris Olympics are fast approaching their conclusion, but a few immortal athletes will far outlive the games themselves. From those made into TikToks and memes to those that sparked widespread debate, a fair few Olympians found their way into history books this year.

The discussion around pole vaulting has largely been dominated by chatter about the immense… talent displayed by French competitor Anthony Ammirati. His pole vaulting success was stopped by a rogue cameo from an unintended body part, shattering his Olympic dreams but winning him the internet’s highest regard. The furor around his performance had more than one downside, unfortunately — it’s leeched attention from world-record setter Mondo Duplantis, who took home the gold following a stellar showing at the games.

He deserves some recognition too, particularly after he displayed on-point priorities in the wake of his record-setting victory. Moments after landing, the Swedish competition was on his feet, but rather than run straight to his trophy, he found his way to another prize — his model girlfriend, Desire Inglander.

Inglander caught his stunning victory on camera, and — from her stellar vantage in the stands — also managed to catch his reaction. In the immediate wake of landing on the pad below, Duplantis was beelining straight for his lady, in a wholesome moment that won over any fans still distracted by Ammirati’s anaconda.

The video quickly made the rounds on social media, and by the time it landed on TikTok people were already obsessed. They heaped love, praise, and no small amount of jealousy into the comment section, where they gushed over “one of our favorite Olympic moments yet this year,” and reinforced time and again that Duplantis and Inglander “are the best couple” of the event.

They’ve certainly built a solid foundation, and that much is clearly evident in Duplantis’ reaction to his spectacular victory. It takes a truly massive amount of effort and dedication to secure a spot at the Olympics, let alone both win gold and break a world record, and Duplantis has been putting it in for years. On average, it takes a good decade of hard, grueling work to reach the level of the athletes we see compete in the games. Those years are spent abandoning fun pursuits in favor of training, and all for the small sliver of hope that they will both make it to the games and come home victorious.

That’s a lot of strain to put on a relationship, but it seems Duplantis and Inglander have what it takes to persevere. If they can make it through that demanding training unscathed, nothing can stop the official couple of the 2024 Olympic Games.

‘Sibling rivalry, even in death’: Woman comes home to find that even death isn’t enough to stop her dogs from playing https://wegotthiscovered.com/social-media/sibling-rivalry-even-in-death-woman-comes-home-to-find-that-even-death-isnt-enough-to-stop-her-dogs-from-playing/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/social-media/sibling-rivalry-even-in-death-woman-comes-home-to-find-that-even-death-isnt-enough-to-stop-her-dogs-from-playing/#respond Thu, 08 Aug 2024 20:06:31 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1736868 'Get a beagle they said… It will be fun they said…' ]]>

The only real fault that exists in the precious, loyal dogs of the world is the length of their lives. They don’t live nearly long enough, and for most of us that is their one enduring shortcoming.

It’s not the case with every canine out there, of course, and TikToker Aly Hodd (@rambolesbo) may be adding a fresh imperfection to the list after her playful pup took things a bit too far during playtime. Leaving a dog unattended is always a risk, but it’s a rare day when they find something quite so inappropriate to sink their teeth into.

In Hodd’s case, said inappropriate object was their brother. Something that would typically be fine — why have two dogs if not for them to entertain one another — but there’s a catch in Hodd’s situation: One of her dogs is deceased. Thus leaving her berserk beagle to latch onto the only remaining element of their former sibling — their actual remains.

Hodd came home to find a devastating, but shockingly humorous, scene when she checked in on her dog to find that he’d ripped into her deceased dog’s ashes, scattering them across the floor in a macabre homage to his lost sibling. It’s her commentary that really sells the video, however, when she furiously proclaims that “my dog ate my dog,” while gesturing wildly at the strewn ashes.

The comment section below Hodd’s brief video is absolutely loaded with comedy gold, a small bandaid on a no-doubt traumatizing situation for the TikToker. Comments joking that the video gives a “whole new meaning to ‘it’s a dog eat dog world’” and that her dog “was dying to get out” lend needed humor to the situation, as poor Hodd is left to sweep up what’s remained of her lost pup.

While the scene that unfolded in Hodd’s living room was certainly unexpected, it’s not uncommon for dogs to engage in some casual destruction of property. This behavior is most typical in dogs with an excess of energy — puppies, like Hodd’s, or breeds that require high levels of stimulation — or in those that experience frequent anxiety. When they become bored or overwhelmed, they often seek out objects to destroy, and it seems Hodd’s poor deceased doggo was in range for a good demo-sesh.

At least it led to some stellar content. And it paid off for Hodd, whose videos — often featuring their pets — typically boast a few hundred views, at most. Their pup’s inadvertent post-mortem cannibalism, however? A full 3.4 million views, upwards of 432,000 likes, and several thousand comments from enraptured viewers. It is her most successful video by far, and all it took was a little dog-on-dog savagery.

How tall is ‘The Umbrella Academy’ actor Aidan Gallagher? https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/aidan-gallaghers-height-confirmed/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/celebrities/aidan-gallaghers-height-confirmed/#respond Thu, 08 Aug 2024 18:06:52 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1736689 He may the youngest cast member, but he's not the shortest. ]]>

He still sports an irrefutably, pinch-ably youthful face, but Umbrella Academy‘s Aidan Gallagher is a kid no longer.

He turned 20 late last year, landing the star a fair few years above the spry time-traveling teen he portrays on the Netflix favorite, and fans are starting to notice. Netflix has done a wonderful job of working Number Five’s aging into the storyline — nothing could ever suck as much as enduring puberty twice — but the streamer is doing its absolute best to keep the appearance of youth alive.

Gallagher has been selling the teenage look for years now, even as he ventured out of adolescence and into adulthood, but there’s one thing no amount of makeup or skincare can ever fix: his height. As he steps into adulthood the star is doing so in somewhat longer slacks than he wore in the show’s first season, but with some careful camerawork, fans aren’t likely to notice.

Gallagher was selected to play Number Five, easily among the most treasured members of the Umbrella Academy lineup, for good reason. His youthful appearance was a clear draw, but it was his sprightly look combined with immense, obvious talent that really sold audiences on the character. Gallagher had his work cut out for him, playing a 58-year-old man trapped in a teen’s body, and he delivered in truly unmatched fashion.

As a result, he’s among the fanbase’s favorite characters, even as he ages out of his wry adolescence and into full maturity. Fans are starting to notice as gradual changes occur, hardening the star’s angles and strengthening his features, but one thing viewers aren’t likely to notice is a major change in height.

Gallagher’s been sitting pretty at right around 5 feet, 5 inches for years now, and he’s not gained many inches, despite the time he’s spent in the role. He already towered over Elliot Page’s measly 5 feet, 1 inch in the show’s debut season, and as it heads fast toward a conclusion, he still falls right in the middle of the Umbrella Academy cast.

‘I should have offered him a slice’: Foodie gets in trouble with the cops for skulking around at night, but she’s actually just reviewing pizza https://wegotthiscovered.com/social-media/foodie-gets-in-trouble-with-the-cops-for-skulking-around-at-night-but-shes-actually-just-reviewing-pizza/ https://wegotthiscovered.com/social-media/foodie-gets-in-trouble-with-the-cops-for-skulking-around-at-night-but-shes-actually-just-reviewing-pizza/#respond Thu, 08 Aug 2024 16:55:41 +0000 https://wegotthiscovered.com/?p=1736589 "The streets are safe now!" ]]>

The era of social media has complicated the simplest of acts, down to grabbing a bite to eat. As we share more and more details of our intimate lives, we exist more frequently online, and that can make us lose focus on the real world.

This uniquely modern problem very nearly got TikTok user Faith Enokian (@faithenokian) in trouble with the law when she was approached by an officer for lurking in the dark. Where the policeman saw a problem, however, the rest of us simply saw a foodie reviewing pizza from a unique location, prompting demands to know just what our police force is doing with their time.

Enokian was barely a bite into her thick crust slice when her street side review caught an unintended cameo. A passing police officer was so startled by her location — which appears to be on the sidewalk outside of a business — that he flipped his lights on and rolled over to question the unexpecting TikToker. His initial words to Enokian are hard to make out, but it’s clear that he tells her it’s “not worth it” to… peacefully stand outside and review a pizza?

Weird thing to take issue with, but okay. While Enokian was technically loitering, she was also doing something completely innocent, and people — including the TikToker herself — were quick to wonder if there weren’t more pressing matters the officer could have been looking into. As Enokian noted in the caption “I dont do dr*gs or anything I just get in trouble for eating pizza.

Stops of this sort are infuriatingly common, even as actual crimes rob citizens of their lives and businesses of their wares. Yet somehow our police find time to harass innocent pizza eaters when they could be out solving actual crimes.

Police actually spend a truly frustrating amount of time dodging their actual jobs in favor of conducting racially based stops and, apparently, fighting pizza-based crime. Data pulled from 2019 shows that 79% of law enforcement time is spent dealing with traffic stops, while our officers spend a measly 11% of their time on stops with reasonable suspicion of a crime. That leaves our police spending a truly upsetting percentage of their days twiddling about while actual “crime fighting” falls to the wayside.

Perhaps, if we refocused our police force, they’d spend less time haranguing pizza lovers and more time stopping crime. For the time being, unfortunately, eating pizza while outdoors may still elicit police presence, something commenters took major issue with. They poked fun at the officer, who clearly has too much time on his hands, and cheerily dressed the pizza-hating officer down.

From “PIZZA REVIEW? Not in my neighborhood,” to “So glad I can sleep well knowing there isn’t someone making a pizza review,” people made their opinions of the officer’s actions clear. Sarcasm was a major player in Enokian’s comment section, where people rushed to assert that at least “the streets are safe now.”

Enokian may actually be thanking the officer for his interruption, however, given the numbers her video is doing. While most of her content sits pretty at between 10,000 and 200,000 views, her foiled pizza review boasts a full 10 million views, alongside nearly 950,000 likes and going on 4,000 comments. And all for daring to eat some ‘za on the side of the road.
